A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
It has been my privilege
...and honor to serve you on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners for over 20 years. During these past two decades, I have developed a wealth of experience and knowledge of all levels of government. The past three and a half years have brought challenges that most of us could never have imagined, but we have risen to meet these challenges and are now a stronger community because of them. Together we have shown great strength and resilience. I am committed to continuing the work I began in 2003 during my first year in office to deliver “Results You Can See.” We will move DeKalb to the next level and create real change from action, not just words.
I bring experience, engagement and effective leadership to all that I do, and I am committed to unifying the people of DeKalb. I have the vision and plans to create a better, safer, stronger DeKalb that thrives! With your help, this vision will become a reality with me as your next CEO of DeKalb County.

ABOUT ME
Serving DeKalb for 20 years.
At the age of 33, Commissioner Larry Johnson was elected as DeKalb County’s 3rd District Commissioner in November 2002. Receiving 92 percent of the vote, he became one of the youngest commissioners ever elected to serve on the Board of Commissioners. During his first year in office, he successfully advocated for $32 million in infrastructure and highway improvements, including sidewalks and improvements to relieve traffic congestion; the Millage Rate was decreased for homeowners; and the Property Maintenance Ordinance was adopted.
